Nancy Scheinost, MD trained at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Scottsdale Arizona. Dr. Sheinost then completed a fellowship in Rheumatology at UCSD in San Diego.
Dr. Scheinost has been in private practice for the past 24 years. She started her training in Functional Medicine in 2010 and 5 years later. In 2014, Nancy Scheinost, MD became one of the few certified Functional Medicine practitioners in Rheumatology through the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Scheinost went into to medicine because she believes with all her heart her gift is to help people. She was inspired to start her journey into learning and implementing Functional Medicine concepts in practice out of the desire to educate and empower people how to take great care of themselves with her help.
Nancy is an internal medicine and rheumatologist who has seen the importance of gut health, nutrition and hormones on the health of her patients. Her primary focus is in restoring health to the body and immunes system through repairing the gut, immune and endocrine system. She works with people who have a been diagnosed with AI disorder or may have conditions that so far have been hard for other physicians to diagnose such as toxic mold exposure. She focuses on underlying cause and has a goal to help her clients use as many natural means as possible to manage their autoimmune diagnosis.
Nancy often provides second opinions and takes over management of medications when the goal is to find the least disruptive drug management or to come off a medication. She also continues to work with her patients ongoing to continue making progress to health. She has a special interest in hormones and their relationship to health and, therefore, also provides comprehensive hormone management from the thyroid to sex hormones. You do not have to be an autoimmune patient to see her.
She loves to work with people who want to optimize their health whether they are just feeling older or experiencing sexual disfunction or low libido. She provides hormone management in bioidentical pellets, creams and other forms. Because Dr. Nancy is also an internal medicine physician, she also continues to provide comprehensive care including evaluating cardiovascular, metabolic and total health of her patients.
