Through analysis, we help you become your best self

46655158_MKnowing how to be your best self includes knowing everything about yourself. Being self-aware is more than just a mindset to help you lessen stress around your life; self-awareness extends to knowing what your body reacts to, and what can trigger an abject reaction inside to a food, or to an environmental situation. That type of self-awareness is an elevated state of mind and body to help live your best life, and be the best version of yourself both for your friends and family, but most importantly for the person you see each time you look in a mirror — yourself!

Sometimes, while we emphasize perfection on the outside, we can also accept that on the inside, things are not perfect. The term “genetic variation” may sound disturbing, but it’s actually a good approach to research because then, knowing yourself on the inside, you can set forth a course correction to make sure your body is functioning at its best.

That’s why one of the many services we have at Living Well Dallas include Functional Medicine Genetic Analysis. Betty Murray, a co-founder of LWD, is the creator of a nutritional program that can generate an individualized approach for each individual based upon their genetic makeup and bio-chemical makeup. It’s a passion project for Betty, who after suffering from an extended battle against colitis and fatigue embarked on a journey of more than a decade to determine how genetic analysis can help us diagnose issues on the inside and correct through adjusted nutritional focuses.

Is something wrong with me?

That’s the worst question to ask. Instead of worrying about that, focus instead on how to be better going forward with a mix of lifestyle and diet that can decrease stress levels and elevate consciousness going forward. More than 80 percent of our health is dictated by lifestyle or environmental factors rather than genetics. Approaching life not from the perspective of if something is wrong with you allows you to express yourself in a more positive fashion.

The first step forward

It’s important to note, from the beginning: Having a genetic variant does not mean you have a genetic problem. Each person’s genetics are as different as you are from the person in the coffee shop next to you, and that’s terrific! The differences we have is why one of Betty’s foremost concerns is taking into account everything known about your medical history and any symptoms you may be experiencing that cannot be easily handled with a prescription at a drug store.

By utilizing advanced nutritional testing using organic acids, plasma amino acids and other tests, our analytical programs can give enlightening insight into your individual biochemisty: Things such as your levels of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, oxidative stress, dysbiosis, energy production, toxicity and more. Between this report and other steps we take in sync with each other, a person is able to get the individual treatment that is holistic and insightful.

Getting more in depth

Along with nutritional testing, we add genetic analysis to combine the two into a powerful report that gives depth and nuance to your evaluation. We use raw data from 23andMe — admit it, you’ve seen the commercials and have been intrigued what they could find — and input that data into a software analysis program that generates a report detailing your genetic variants, allowing us to diagnose and give recommendations unique to you including the following:

  • MTHFR, B12 Recycling, Overall Methylation
  • Celiac Disease disposition
  • Detoxification & Glutathione production abnormalities
  • Histamine & Neurotransmitter break down
  • Inflammation & Oxidative Stress potential
  • Alzheimer’s & Dementia Risk

We also will send you a symptoms questionnaire to be filled out before your appointment, one of the final pieces that we use to complete our report.

A unique approach

At some places, this information is taken and analyzed strictly from a health perspective with scientific recommendation. But with the approach we take at Living Well Dallas, we don’t recommend things unless we are sure they will be a fit with your medical history. Instead, we offer holistic solutions, including diet and lifestyle adjustments. Whether it’s something as simple as getting on a better sleep schedule that allows your body’s energy levels to restore itself more efficiently, or food recommendations based off your genetic background, we treat not only the body, but in a way that you can have an enlightened peace of mind and understanding as to a better way forward to keep life and body in balance.

Whether we set you on the road to a greater peace of mind and security with a pathway to a better, more stable life, or we help you keep yourself at your best emotionally, we can help you figure out how to get started Living Well again.
